Empower New Energy is pleased to announce the commissioning of its latest project: a 507 kWp rooftop and carport-mounted solar PV plant installed at the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) in Accra, Ghana. Developed in partnership with RIFE Energy Ghana, this project represents a significant step toward a sustainable energy future for the country.

Situated in a prime area of Ghana's capital, the PV plant is anticipated to generate approximately 696,000 kWh of electricity annually. This project will support NITA's commitment to leveraging advanced technologies for public service. The project is established under a 15-year contract between Empower New Energy and NITA, aiming to significantly reduce NITA's energy costs and CO2 emissions.

NITA, established by Act 771 by Ghana's Parliament in 2008, serves as the ICT policy implementing arm of the Ministry of Communications and is a leader in promoting technological advancement in Ghana. As the custodian of the country's IT policies, NITA is dedicated to fostering sustainable growth in the sector by encouraging partnerships and advancing essential technologies.

To celebrate the commissioning, a small ceremony was held, attended by several government and private stakeholders. Notable attendees included the Minister of Communications of Ghana, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, and Norway’s Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Ingrid Mollestad.

“This solar project at the National Information Technology Agency is a testament to our commitment to integrating sustainable energy solutions into our nation’s infrastructure, exemplifying the innovative spirit of our country” - says Hon.Ursula Owusu–Ekuful, Minister of Communications - Ghana.

“It is inspiring to see the partnership between Empower New Energy, NITA and RIFE produce this highly innovative solar solution. This is an excellent example of how collaboration can lead to a greener, more resilient future for Ghana” - says H.E. Ingrid Mollestad, Norway’s Ambassador to Ghana.

“We are proud to collaborate with NITA and RIFE in Ghana in this modern and unique solar project, which also happens to be our 4th solar investment in the country” - says Terje Osmundsen, CEO of Empower New Energy.

“We are excited to embark on this project with Empower New Energy and RIFE. This is not just about harnessing renewable energy; it represents our commitment to innovation and sustainability in our operations" - says Richard Okyere–Fosu, Director General of NITA.

RIFE has been responsible for the engineering and construction of this project, and will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance.
